Key Development Areas

We are actively enhancing the Filer product with a series of improvements focused on performance, usability, and extensibility. Upcoming development areas include:

  • Automated customer self-install process
  • Updated API framework with improved architecture and installation documentation
  • Major improvements to bulk upload performance and metadata handling
  • Continued expansion of Single Entity Filer (SEF)
  • Modernised SPFx Framework V2
  • Enhanced integration with Archiver
  • Document Classification and Extraction AI powered Triage, available with or without Filer
  • New Dynamics 365 PCF Controls
  • New Filer Lite (SaaS) offering
  • Ongoing technical debt reduction and priority bug fixes.

 

Multi-Entity Filer (MEF)

Document Handling

MEF will deliver a more intuitive and powerful document-management experience:

  • Usability enhancements including the ability to create Folders. (available from March 26)
  • Multi-document upload (planned availability from August 26)
  • Drag-and-drop file support
  • Bulk metadata updates
  • Per-file metadata selection before upload

  • Duplicate file handling (replace or rename prompts)

     

Favourites & Search

  • New search capabilities, including Advanced Search
  • New user interface (table view), to view all documents across all entities.
  • Entity level permission management.
  • Exposure of audit data and owner roles within the UI

UI Enhancements

  • Usability improvements will allow users to quickly navigate and access content.
  • Outlook Add-in with drag-and-drop capabilities

  • Significant updates to the user interface to incorporate Fluent 2.

     

Single-Entity Filer (SEF)

Configuration & Provisioning

SEF is being enhanced to streamline setup and management. Key updates include:

  • New “Create Single Entity” configuration option in the Admin Portal
  • Fully automated API provisioning for each SEF instance, including:
    • Document library creation
    • Content type setup
    • Permission configuration
    • Metadata structure

Favourites & Search

Usability improvements will allow users to quickly navigate and access content:

  • Ability to favourite (bookmark) entities, folders, and files
  • New dedicated Search Web Part that displays:
    • All SEF child configurations
    • User favourites

Document Handling

SEF will deliver a more intuitive and powerful document-management experience:

  • Multi-document upload
  • Drag-and-drop file support
  • Bulk metadata updates
  • Per-file metadata selection before upload
  • Duplicate file handling (replace or rename prompts)

UI Enhancements

  • Improved item menu placement for better alignment with SharePoint

  • Admin-managed option to add metadata columns directly into views

     

Filer for Dynamics 365

Enhancements planned for the Dynamics 365 version of Filer include:

  • Native PCF control suite.
  • Demographic configuration capabilities of D365 entities within the admin portal.
  • Advanced grid interface for entity-level file management.
  • Ability to create record context directly from the UI.

 

Filer Lite (SaaS)

A new offering for Q3 2026 - a self-service, downloadable from the Microsoft Marketplace, Records Management solution.
